About BMC

George Faile III stands by a bust of his father in front of the hospitalThe Baptist Medical Center in Nalerigu is a 123-bed hospital that offers full inpatient services. The hospital was founded in 1957 by Dr. George Faile, Sr and his son is now part of a team consisting of one other general practice physician, a pharmacist, and many Ghanaian nurses and mid-wives.

In recent years the yearly statistics have been averaging as follows: 60,000 outpatient visits, 10,000 inpatients, 1,000 major operations, and 2,500 minor procedures. Quite a lot for such a small medical team! In addition, forty churches have been planted as a direct result of the ministries associated with the Baptist Medical Center.

The hospital receives a fixed amount of funding from the Southern Baptist International Mission Board and relies on donations through The George Faile Foundation to supplement their budget (see How Can I Help?).

You can view pictures I’ve taken of BMC at the Baptist Medical Center website.
